IT Operations Manager - London Market Underwriter - £Competitive

Finitas are delighted to be partnered with a medium-sized, Agile underwriting business operating in the Lloyd's market and assist in their efforts in identifying an experience IT Operations professional. This is a brand new role as part of a new initiative to move away from operating as a start-up business and mature as an established and successful business.

Part of this initiative includes enhancing technology capabilities involving new underwriting and claims PAS systems implementation as part of Blueprint II and Velonetic's Phase One programme, due for delivery by July 2024.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the Systems Manager in the day-to-day operational running of core IT services including managing outsourced partners and the company's Security Services.
  • Work closely with the Underwriting Operations Manager and assist the delivery of Blueprint II projects, including PAS implementations across the underwriting and claims functions.
  • Be a leading member in the organisation's InfoSec Forum.
  • Again working closely with the Underwriting Operations Manager, you'll be supporting change initiatives across the business, leveraging your technical expertise in supporting non-technical stakeholders through the changes.
  • To be be hands on with IT issues, both with systems and infrastructure and office-based issues. To not be afraid to get under a few desks!
  • Full ownership and management of the organisation's application and software estate.
  • Continuous improvement on the organisation's Governance and Controls, specifically for IT and Data.

Key requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of Insurance systems ideally within the Claims and/or Underwriting areas. Similar experience in the London market would be highly advantageous.
  • Experienced in managing 3rd party vendors or suppliers.
  • Strong experience in managing internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good working knowledge of Information/Cyber Security, resilience, and control.
  • The ability to work well with others and collaborate with stakeholders and other business units, building excellent working relationships.
