We are excited to be working with an exciting fast-growing Fintech within the payments space in their search for a Deputy Head of Compliance and MLRO.

They need someone who can work autonomously to help build the frameworks for their second-line compliance function, under the direction of the Head of Compliance & MLRO.

Main Duties

Working closely with other senior leaders, your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting on behalf of the Head of Compliance & MLRO when necessary
  • Interacting with the CEO, ExCo, and other Department Heads as needed
  • Improving compliance & governance frameworks
  • Establishing a risk-based compliance monitoring system
  • Performing regular financial crime Business Wide Risk Assessments (BWRA)
  • Updating Client Risk Assessment matrices regularly
  • Compiling the annual MLRO / financial crime report
  • Evaluating the impact of regulatory changes, and developing policies and procedures as required
  • Creating materials for relevant governance forums like the Risk Committee and Financial Crime Committee
  • Ensuring precise responses and reports to the Regulator
  • Assisting in managing the performance of the broader compliance and financial crime team

Requirements

Applicants should have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Extensive experience in the financial services sector, with a focus on retail banking, deposit-taking, payments, FinTech, or similar areas within financial services
  • Previous experience in a senior compliance and AML role or as a Deputy Head of Compliance & DMLRO
  • Demonstrated understanding of industry best practices and regulatory frameworks
  • Confidence in making decisions and working independently
  • Efficiently conducting gap analyses and summarising risk from various sources
  • Thorough knowledge of the FCA Rulebook, including Consumer Duty, BCOBs, Payments Regulation
  • Essential familiarity with JMLSG and FCA rules regarding AML/CTF
  • Relevant industry certifications such as ACAMS/ICA are essential
